This is a ‘must attend’ event if you’re looking for financing to boost your business, are just starting a business, or simply curious about the different funding options out there for small businesses. Four speakers will describe and discuss Private Equity, Angel Investing, Bank Loans. No matter what size your company is, this event will be useful.
George Dibben – Angel investor
After Cambridge George qualified as a Civil Engineer. For the last 30 years he has invested and worked in businesses locally. The most successful of these was the radio station WAVE 105FM. Presently, in addition to being Hon., Chairman of the Angels 5K Club in Southampton, he chairs three private company investments: Hampshire Workspace (Serviced Offices – Winchester), Healthmatic (Automatic Public Conveniences – Calne) and Systemsolid (Serviced Industrial units – Gosport). He also Chair Fenwick2 (Social Enterprise – Lyndhurst) and Director A2 Dominion Developments (Housing Association – London).
Simon White – Altitude Partners, Private Equity
Simon is a founding Partner of Altitude Partners, a local equity investor focussed on investing in growing businesses within the Wessex region.
Altitude Partners invest between £500,000 and £2 million of development capital or MBO funding into established local businesses. Simon was previously the founding Partner of BDO’s Southern Corporate Finance Team and has operated in the region for over a decade and in private equity for over 20 years.
Andrew Tapsell, Barclay’s Business Banking
Andrew joined Barclays in July 1986 and is a Barclays Business Development Manager. He has 25 years of banking experience having started with Barclays on the Isle of Wight where he spent 13 years working in various roles including personal lending and as a business start up manager. Andrew moved to the New Forest area 12 years ago as a Business Manager looking after a portfolio of established clients before moving to the centre of Southampton. More recently, Andrew has helped grow the Business Development Manager role in Barclays, which focuses on arranging commercial finance for new clients introduced by brokers.
Anthony Donohue – Barclay’s, Bank Loans
Anthony joined Barclays in July 2011 and is Corporate Director for the Solent & Dorset Mid-Market team as well as Head of TMT for Southern Region.
He has 22 years of banking experience having started with NatWest in 1989 in Wimbledon branch. Anthony then spent the next 15 years working in and around the London area for NatWest / RBS which included specialist roles within the Credit departments of RBS. Anthony moved to the south coast 7 years ago and initially was the Business Development Director before becoming a leading member of the Southampton based Structured and Specialised Finance team for 4 years. More recently, Anthony was Head of the South Technology and Telecoms team at RBS’.
