For those of you who were unable to attend July’s “Secrets of Successful Green Entrepreneurs”, we hope that you will go to the Members Only section of the Wired Wessex website to view the presentation slides from our excellent panel of green businesses. In addition, Winchester Action on Climate Change, or “WinACC” would like you to be aware of the services that they provide to small businesses to help you reduce your carbon footprint.
What WinACC can do for local businesses?
Being part of this growing movement demonstrates your commitment to tackling climate change. It can help to attract business from like-minded customers and recruitment applications from like-minded individuals. WinACC can help you know how to cut your carbon footprint so that you can save money on energy and transport bills and WinACC has links to businesses that have already done this. WinACC can give information that might be needed about government initiatives that reward ‘green’ behaviour.
When a business becomes a voting member of WinACC they would be listed on our website and featured in our Newsletter and in a press release when they join which will widen their range of publicity. They can also use the WinACC membership logo on advertising.
How WinACC can help businesses know how to cut their carbon footprints?
To learn ways to cut your energy and travel emissions, WinACC hosts ‘Open eco-workshops’ on second Tuesdays of alternate months and there is a link to the Carbon Trust’s top tips for how organisations can cut their emissions on the website. WinACC also distributes literature on the Sustainable Business Partnership.
How businesses can join WinACC?
It is FREE for businesses (as well as individuals) to join as a member and calculate their carbon footprint at http://www.winacc.org.uk/get-involved. WinACC is a listed charity and is supported by Hampshire County Council, Winchester City Council and University of Winchester.
