The Guardian says that John Lewis is claiming its falling sales are due to the Olympics and exam results – but we all know it’s down to something bigger. Oil prices, meanwhile, have risen slightly – again due to Russia’s antics.
Over at The Times, Halifax is slashing its estate agents business by 25%, while hapless rat-worriers Rentokil suffer even more pain.
The Independent scares everyone with news that consumer debt has exceeded national GDP for a second year, while rising mortgage rates adds even more woe for besieged US homeowners.
