New Smarter Working Centres to help start-ups in Hampshire
Posted: Monday 17th Aug 2009
The eHampshire Partnership is working on an exciting new initiative, to be launched in October 2009, that will establish a network of ‘Smarter Working Centres’ (SWC) across the County as part of the MATiSSE Smarter Working project.
Each internet connected centre will offer low-cost, ‘supported’ work and meeting space for home based and start-up businesses. The space is bookable by the hour, day or week with discounted rates available for longer usage periods.
The SWCs hope to encourage more sustainable forms of working too with the opportunity for regular commuters to occasionally work closer to where they chose to live thereby reducing the cost and stress of peak-time travel. Part of Hampshire County Council’s ‘Recession Response’ programme, each SWC will also be expected to set up networking and self help groups as well as become a local venue for business advice and training sessions delivered by organisations like Business Link and Train to Gain.
Ten centres are expected to operational by the launch date (8th October). Any organisation interested in becoming an SWC operator or alternatively landlords wishing to offer empty or under-utilised office premises are asked to contact Tony Corbin at eHampshire on 01962 846 381.
