Business links with the Winchester Business School

A continuing and successful scheme provided at no charge by Winchester Business School to help businesses solve some outstanding issues when their own people are not available to do so.

It is the intention of the Business School to continue to form strong and lasting bonds with the local and regional business community in particular through the provision of facilities and services at the school that will assist in the development of the businesses concerned. The first service is a by-product of the postgraduate studies programmes at the Business School, namely a Master of Science in Business Management (MSc) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Here, postgraduate students conduct short or extended Consulting assignments for businesses. There is no charge* for this service as it is hoped that both the client, the student and the School all benefit from the involvement.

How? Typically a business will discuss with a designated member of The Business School faculty details of a business need. This could be for marketing or accounting or most other business management disciplines. The Business School will then attempt to identify a suitable postgraduate student who will spend approx. one day per week working for the business for a period of two months or more (as agreed). The business and student will meet to discuss and, hopefully agree a workable assignment which will be conducted under the supervision of both company and Business School.

  • We ask that reasonable and agreed expenses incurred by the student consultant in conducting the assignment be reimbursed directly to the student.

The scheme will re-start in January 2012 but early discussion before then is advisable as student availability is limited.
