Fifty people attended the event last week, representing Wired Wessex, Cafe Culture, Winchester BID, Ecademy and other networking groups in the area. We began by tucking in to a nice glass of wine or beer and a lovely buffet provided by Winchester BID.
There was a fantastic buzz in the room as the guests sat either in the ‘inner circle’ or ‘outer circle’. When the cow bell rang….they were off! Each person had one and a half minutes to give their ‘elevator pitch’ to the person facing them. After both had given their pitch, the cow bell signified that it was time for the inner circle to move over one place, and they started again!
It was fast and furious, but strangely energising! Every person met 21 other people and then had a half hour at the end to delve deeper into discussion. Some of the comments were:
"It was a great event – constructive and enjoyable, and for me a great chance to practice"
"Excellent event, and I met many new people, as well as being able to catch up with a few familiar faces."
"It was my first speed networking event and I found it extremely useful – made a few good contacts and I really enjoyed meeting everyone."
We know that "Speed Networking" sounds intense and full of pressure, but it can also be light and fun. It’s also great practice for meeting new people!
